ivana cvijovic alagic 11032025Dr. Ivana Cvijović-Alagić, a scientific advisor at the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, University of Belgrade, has been elected as a corresponding member of the Department of Technological, Metallurgical, and Materials Sciences of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia (AINS) by the Assembly for the election of new regular, corresponding, and foreign members, consisting of all regular and corresponding members of the Academy.

The Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia (AINS) is a scientific engineering institution that brings together selected distinguished engineers and scientists in the field of engineering sciences with the aim of advancing technical sciences, their application in industry, and addressing societal priorities and challenges.

A corresponding member of the Academy can be an outstanding engineer-scientist and innovator in engineering disciplines, distinguished by significant scientific or creative achievements.

The committee assessed that Dr. Ivana Cvijović-Alagić has demonstrated exceptional scientific and engineering contributions. In addition to being one of the founders and the current head of the Center of Excellence “Center for Synthesis, Processing, and Characterization of Materials for Application in Extreme Conditions” (CEXTREME LAB), Dr. Cvijović-Alagić is also the founder and head of the “Laboratory for Surface Properties Testing and Damage Prevention of Materials for Application in Extreme Conditions.”

Her scientific activities focus on innovative high-entropy materials, biomedical alloys, high-temperature alloys, advanced methods for obtaining nanoparticulate materials, the development of ceramic and composite materials, as well as the study of microstructural, mechanical, corrosion, and tribological properties. She has initiated a new research direction in high-entropy alloys by applying a combined experimental-theoretical approach. She has published 155 papers. Her achievements are best reflected in the recognition by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, which included her in the 2024 Excellence in Science list, honoring the top 10% of researchers in Serbia.

Academy members are elected every three years based on high scientific and professional criteria. Dr. Ivana Cvijović-Alagić has achieved remarkable results in both scientific and engineering fields, which has earned her a place among the corresponding members of AINS.
