As part of professional training in the courses Forensic Chemistry and CBRN Protection, the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences hosted first and second year students from the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies - Forensic Engineering program.

During the full-day visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the work of the CBRN Center at the Vinča Institute and the methods used for detecting and decontaminating chemical and radiological agents through theoretical lectures, demonstration exercises, and tours of laboratory facilities.

The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Milica Ćurčić, Assistant Director for Security, followed by three thematic lectures delivered by experts in the fields of CBRN security, chemical incidents, and the management of radioactive materials. Special emphasis was placed on the practical application of scientific knowledge in the security sector and the work of forensic teams.

As part of the demonstration exercises, students attended simulations of chemical and radiological agent detection in open areas and sampling procedures. They also visited one of the Institute’s specialized laboratories.

The expert team from the Center for CBRN Forensics and Training expressed satisfaction with the students’ interest and highlighted the importance of such visits in bridging science and practice in the field of security. The Vinča Institute remains committed to strengthening cooperation with higher education institutions and supporting the education of future experts in forensic science and emergency response.
